We warmly invite you to join Sandra Barefoot, Executive Director of The Forgiveness Project, and Angela Findlay, artist, author and speaker, for an evening reflecting on forgiveness in the context of war, remembrance and reconciliation.
The evening will begin with an illustrated talk by Angela Findlay, drawing on her memoir, In My Grandfather’s Shadow (Penguin, 2022), to reveal Germany’s post-Second World War culture of remembrance, apology and atonement. Through history and personal experience, we’ll reflect on how societies remember conflict, recover from its legacy, and seek ways to prevent history from repeating itself.
Following the talk, there will be time to respond through simple creative activities using pens, coloured pencils and paper. Together, we’ll explore how remembrance can become a foundation for reconciliation and what forgiveness might teach us about peace today.
